Free summer VacSwim for WA kids

LIWA Aquatics is excited to endorse the Cook Labor Government's recent announcement of free VacSwim lessons for WA children. With a $5.5 million investment aimed at enhancing school swimming lessons and water safety, this initiative is expected to save families hundreds of dollars while encouraging more children to learn vital swimming skills.

Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre Reopens

The City of Stirling opened the largest public outdoor lap pool in the Southern Hemisphere on 2 September at Stirling Leisure - Inglewood.   The new facility, featuring a lap pool heated to 27.5 degrees Celsius and holding 2.5 million litres of water, includes ten 50-metre lanes and four 25-metre lanes. The pool area has been upgraded with a new concourse, landscaping, and LED lighting.

2024 WA Aquatic Recreation Industry Awards

The third annual WA Aquatic Recreation Industry (ARI) Awards, hosted by LIWA Aquatics, honoured the leading professionals in the state’s aquatic recreation sector.  These awards recognise excellence among individuals, aquatic facilities, their staff and organisations, acknowledging their dedication to enhancing aquatic recreation communities, programs, facility operations, management, and safety. Nominees are put forward by their colleagues within the industry to be considered for the awards.

LIWA Aquatics Hosts Successful North West Aquatic Recreation Seminar in Port Hedland

The Leisure Institute of WA Aquatics (LIWA Aquatics), in partnership with Royal Life Saving, recently held the North West Aquatic Recreation Seminar on May 10th, 2024, at the Wanangkura Stadium in South Hedland. The event, supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Town of Port Hedland, Trade Exhibitors Fluidra, Sigma Chemicals, and Niche Diving Services, brought together 40 industry professionals from across the North West region of WA.

On Tuesday the 27th of June at the Hyatt Regency Perth, LIWA Aquatics hosted the 2nd Annual WA Aquatic Recreation Industry Awards. The WA Aquatic Recreation Industry Awards are designed to highlight and award excellence of Individuals within the aquatic recreation industry, Aquatic Facilities, their staff and organisations and provide an opportunity to formally recognize their commitment to improving aquatic recreation communities, programs, facility operations, management and safety.

The 26th Annual Regional Seminar was held on 27th October with 30 registered delegates from around the regions attending for a day of networking and collaboration. The day started with introductions and a review of the State of the Industry report by LIWA Aquatics President Nick Wilkinson.
