Join us for a behind-the-scenes technical tour of the newly refurbished LeisureFit Booragoon, a modern and inclusive aquatic facility transformed through a $11.5 million upgrade by the City of Melville.
Now a contemporary and accessible community space, the centre has undergone significant works after 23 years of operation. The refurbishment includes the leisure pool, 50-metre pool, and change facilities, as well as the complete replacement of air conditioning and ventilation systems—dramatically improving comfort, acoustics, and air quality.
The tour will be led by Paul McAllister (Project Manager) and Alexandra Gamble (Healthy Melville Supervisor ‑ Aquatic Operations), who will share insights into the history of the project and the design opportunities that shaped the redevelopment. This included the reimagining of the leisure pool and the addition of a dedicated rehabilitation warm water pool, enhancing the centre’s offering for seniors, infant programs, and low-impact therapy.
- Refurbished 50-metre pool with new tiles, accessible ramp access, and on-deck showers
- Redesigned leisure pool with toddlers' play area, dry change rooms, and improved accessibility
- A new warm water pool for rehabilitation and specialised programs
- Improved acoustics and upgraded air handling systems for a healthier, quieter environment
The refurbishment was delivered in two stages beginning in late October 2023, with minimal disruption to other operations at the centre.
The facility also offers wellness studio, cycle studio, gym with a dedicated free weights area and turfed athletics training zone, group training yard, outdoor training space, sauna, spa & steam room, water spray ground and creche. The inclusion of a swim wall allows the reconfigure 50m pool lanes.
Don't miss this opportunity to explore the transformation of one of Perth’s major aquatic facilities and gain valuable insights into the planning of the refurbishments and how the LeisureFit team are successfully managing the facilities, services and programmes.
