Conflict is an inevitable part of working with people, and at some point, every aquatic and recreation professional will encounter an agitated or aggressive customer. The way we respond in those moments can be the difference between a smooth resolution and a serious incident.

To support the industry, LIWA has engaged Dr Christian Mauri – a highly regarded presenter from the 2025 Aquatic Recreation Conference – to deliver a practical, full-day workshop designed for lifeguards, aquatic technical operators, and aquatic and recreation staff. Participants will gain the tools and techniques to confidently and safely manage threatening, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour.

Topics include:

  • Causes and triggers of aggression
  • Preventing violence before it starts
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Stages of escalation
  • Self-awareness and calming strategies
  • The role of body language
  • Practical defusing skills

This course includes

  • Engaging, up-to-date materials.
  • Take-home resource package.
  • All day catering - with dietary needs catered for.
