Join the Armadale Fitness & Aquatic Centre Health & Fitness team for an in-depth presentation and technical tour exploring the planning, delivery and early outcomes of the Centre’s recent health and fitness refresh.

The project included:

Equipment: Replacement of AFAC’s health club equipment with a new Technogym range incorporating cardio, pin-loaded and plate-loaded strength equipment, free weights and functional-training options. Attendees will also see Technogym Biostrength in operation and learn how this smart strength technology automatically adjusts resistance, repetitions and sets to provide members with a more personalised training experience. AFAC is the only site in WA using Biostrength in a stand-alone set up, and not in a circuit style.

Rethinking Floor Space:This tour will help you understand how AFAC reimagined their training spaces and created new opportunities to increase member utilisation. The former Omnia Studio was transformed into the new Active Studio, expanding the gym floor and creating significantly more space for functional training. The change represents a deliberate shift in how AFAC uses its spaces, programs its sessions and delivers more options for a diverse membership base.

You’ll see the upgraded equipment and new training zones, discover how the team has relocated small group training into the Main Studio, and explore how the Technogym Universe training rig is being used to maximise the space for both small group training, while still accommodating the group fitness offering.

With a member base of 5,500 - 6,000 and only 500sqm gym floor, making every square metre count is critical, especially in an ever-growing competitive landscape. This project was a bold decision to challenge the status quo and tackle one of AFAC’s biggest operational challenges.

Member Access & Flow: The tour will also examine improvements to member access and movement throughout the facility, including new dry-side access gates serving the health club and group fitness areas.

The AFAC team will discuss the thinking behind the investment, how the new equipment and spaces are being used, and the operational and member outcomes observed since the refresh. The team will also explain the decision to close the facility for a seven day period to complete the health club fit out, along with a variety of other works across the entire facility, and the benefits and challenges that arose from that strategy.  Join the tour to see what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons AFAC has learned from this project.
