LIWA Aquatics finished the year with 2 Regional Professional Development Seminars which attracted 55 attendees from both the  South West and Wheatbelt Regions of WA.  The seminar was a great opportunity for pool managers to network and be informed on the latest developments in Australian Standards and the GSPO (Aquatic Safety Hub) as well as network with other pool managers from around theor region.

Margaret River

LIWA Aquatics were priveldged to host its seminar in the newly built Arts and Cultural centre Margaret River HEART which now adjoins the Aquatic and Rec Centre.  The new centre had only opened on the 5th October 2019 and had not officially opened to the public so we were one of the first groups to view and utilise the centre.

The seminar was officially opened by the Shire President Pam Townsend which was to see this as one of her last official duties as President due to vacating that role the follow day.

LIWA then headed slightly north to the little town of Gingin.  It had been 15 years since LIWA hosted a seminar in Gingin and it was great to be back.  The centre run by Fran and her team has the pool looking fantastic and the lengths this team goes to promote Watch Around Water and its messaging is nothing short of amazing.

The seminar in Gingin was opened by CEO Aaron Cooke and Wayne from the Shire of Gingin and then Fran provided a great insight to the facilities history and developments.

The attendees where lead on a guided tour of the facility and Plant room

The day then flow in the same format as Margaret River the Previous week except that Tim Scott flew over this time from QLD to present the ixom presentation.

Chris Hogg from Prominent Fluid Controls also attended Gingin as a Trade Exhibitor and sat on the trade panel to answer questions from the floor.

LIWA would like to thank the local Swim Club for providing the morning tea and lunch, you gotta love a good country scone, jam and cream. the food was lovely.

The day finished again with the industry issues workshop/forum which generated some great discussion.
