North West Aquatics Professionals Unite in Broome for LIWA Seminar

Published Wed 21 May 2025

LIWA Aquatics proudly hosted 38 passionate industry colleagues from across the North West of Western Australia at its annual regional seminar, held in Broome on Friday, 16 May. This highly anticipated event once again provided a platform for regional aquatic professionals to come together, share knowledge, and strengthen the connections that make this industry so resilient and collaborative.

Representing LIWA Aquatics at the event were President Dan Barber, Board Member Sian Edwards, and Acting Executive Officer Travis Doye. Reflecting on the day, Travis remarked that the seminar served as “another valuable example of the strong network that exists across the broader aquatics industry,” and noted that attendees thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the gathering—particularly the chance to engage in meaningful face-to-face networking.

A highlight of the day was the always-popular ‘Around the Grounds’ session, which offered an interactive and educational space for pool managers to share highlights and lessons from the recent summer season. While this segment delivers tangible takeaways in terms of innovative pool management strategies, its true strength lies in the informal conversations and professional relationships that develop afterwards—building the kind of enduring network that regional aquatic centres depend on.

The event’s success would not have been possible without the generous contributions of a number of key partners and speakers. LIWA Aquatics extends its sincere thanks to:

  • Royal Life Saving WA – LIWA’s principal industry partner
  • Shire of Broome – our generous event host, represented on the day by Shire President Chris Mitchell
  • Garnduwa, Royal Life Saving Australia, and the WA Department of Education – for providing engaging and thought-provoking keynote presentations

With the City of Karratha already expressing interest in hosting next year’s event, the future of the North West Conference looks bright.
To those who made the journey to Broome, LIWA Aquatics thanks you for your ongoing support and your important contributions to the industry. For those who couldn’t make it this year, we look forward to welcoming you in 2026!
