Dave Lanfear: Congratulations on a stellar career
Many in the WA aquatic and recreation industry will have met, worked with or engaged Dave Lanfear throughout his long career in community infrastructure planning. Dave has recently announced his retirement, following a career spanning sport, recreation, leisure and community consulting in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
An urban and regional planner by background, Dave has worked in local government, at Sport England and in consulting, including operating his own business in Western Australia before joining Otium. Over his career, he has helped shape projects that have strengthened sport, recreation and community facilities and services, bringing a practical, considered approach that has been valued by clients, colleagues and communities.
Among Dave’s most cherished work are his contribution to the London Olympics legacy project and the many projects he has delivered for the WA industry. These projects reflect his long-standing commitment to ensuring community infrastructure creates lasting value and supports healthier, better-connected communities.
Dave’s knowledge of the WA sector, combined with his broader national and international experience, has made him an important contributor to the industry. He has generously shared his experience with local governments, facility operators, planners and others working to improve community infrastructure across the State.
While retiring from full-time consulting, Dave will continue to contribute as a presenter for LIWA’s Community Infrastructure Planning Course. His involvement will help ensure that the practical knowledge, lessons and history gained through his career continue to be shared with emerging planners and recreation professionals.
LIWA congratulates Dave on an outstanding career and thanks him for his valuable contribution to the Western Australian aquatic and recreation industry. We wish Dave and his family a happy, healthy and well-deserved retirement.
