Memberships Transitioning to Financial Year Renewal Cycle

To simplify membership management and align with financial reporting periods, LIWA will be transitioning all individual memberships to a financial year renewal cycle, with membership renwal dates 1st July each year and expiry dates standardised to 30 June each year.

This new membership period will commence for all individual memberships on July 1st 2026.  

What This Means for Individual Members

During the transition period, membership invoices will be issued on a pro-rata basis to align your membership with the new renewal date.  

For example, if your current membership is due to expire in August, your next invoice will only cover the period from your renewal date through to 30 June 2027. In this case, you would be invoiced for 11 months of membership rather than a full 12 months.

This ensures that all memberships will be aligned to the same renewal date moving forward.

What This Means for Employers Paying for Staff Individual Memberships

If your organisation pays for memberships on behalf of employees, we can assist in coordinating the transition to the new financial year cycle.  We can organise all your ATO individual memberships until June 30th in one batch, calculating the prorata amount for each.  

We encourage employers to contact the LIWA team to discuss options for managing pro-rata membership payments for staff members and to ensure a smooth transition.

No change - Business Membership are already aligned to a July 1st to June 30th financial year
