Consultant Opportunity to Shape Community Infrastructure Planning

Published Thu 08 May 2025

The Leisure Institute of Western Australia Aquatics (LIWA), in collaboration with Royal Life Saving WA, has announced an exciting opportunity for a qualified consultant to lead the development of a new industry-focused training program — the Community Infrastructure Planning Course (CIPC).
Community infrastructure planning plays a vital role in forecasting the future needs of a community, ensuring that aquatic, sport and recreational facilities are provided in alignment with local and state government strategic goals, and that community places are sustainable, accessible, and inclusive.

Western Australia operates within a uniquely comprehensive planning framework, guided by a suite of Acts, regulations, and policies. These frameworks reflect WA’s diverse geography, regional needs, and distinctive environmental, cultural, and community contexts. A course tailored to WA is essential to equip professionals with the localised knowledge and practical tools required to navigate these complexities and deliver infrastructure that truly meets the needs of communities across the state.

LIWA Aquatics and Royal Life Saving WA invite submissions from qualified consultants to design and develop the new Western Australian Community Infrastructure Planning Course (CIPC).

This practitioner-led, face-to-face course is aimed at strengthening the skills and knowledge of those working—or aspiring to work—in the planning and delivery of community infrastructure across the state. It will support professional development for individuals seeking to contribute to the design, planning, and management of sustainable aquatic, sport, and recreation infrastructure aligned to Western Australia’s unique needs and challenges.
